At Hartpury, we value your skills, experience and future. We are dedicated to ensuring that our facilities enable our students to put theory to practice and gain invaluable hands-on experience.
With over 70 species on-campus, a dedicated centre for veterinary nursing, laboratories and plenty of work experience opportunities outside your degree - we support you in your journey to becoming a qualified and registered veterinary nurse.
Veterinary Nursing - Technical Skills Centre
Put theory into practice like never before with industry-standard equipment available throughout this dedicated state-of-the-art facility.
As well as large laboratories and dedicated study spaces, you’ll have access to a simulated area as you take part in veterinary nursing tasks, practical sessions, and scenarios to enhance your clinical and practical-based skills in a safe setting.
Access to over 70 species
You'll benefit from access to over 70 domestic and non-domestic species on-site, including invertebrates, reptiles, livestock and exotic species.
You'll also have access to the domestic species on our commercial farm and horses in our world-class equine facilities, including our Equine Therapy Centre.
Animal Science Laboratories
As a veterinary nursing student, you'll have access to our animal science laboratories which provide the ideal space for the development of scientific skills, inclusive of the latest technologies and research subjects.
Our dissection and microbiology laboratories with industry-standard equipment will help you put theory into practice, ensuring you gain invaluable real-world experience.
We have also opened an outdoor facility for training dogs and we’re investing in Voyce collars – technology that monitors dog health, including heart rate and blood pressure.
“I really enjoy being able to gain practical skills alongside the theory. We use the Veterinary Nursing Centre for our practical sessions, as well as the equine centre and yard, the reptile room and the Walled Animal Garden, where we get to work with different animals.”
