The hockey teams at Hartpury University and Hartpury College are celebrating a stellar start to the season, showcasing the success of the Hartpury Active programme that aims to enhance the student experience through sport and physical activity.
The men’s hockey team, competing in their debut season in the South Western Tier 4 BUCS League, currently sitting at the top of the table. Despite often playing one or two players down and facing well-established university teams, their determination and teamwork have led to the outstanding achievement.
On the women’s side, the hockey team has progressed to round two of the ICG Women’s Western Conference Trophy, continuing their strong performance in a competitive league.
As the only university in the area with an active men’s team – following the unfortunate folding of University of Gloucester’s team this season – Hartpury is proud to offer students a platform to grow and thrive in the sport.
Friendlies and festivities
The Hartpury Active programme is also bringing students together through friendly matches in other sports too. The basketball team faced off against Stroud Sharks on 5 December while the volleyball team played University of Gloucester on 10 December.
Wellness and inclusivity
In addition to competitive sports, Hartpury Active offers a variety of wellness activities. To mark International Men’s Day recently, Emma from the Hartpury Active team hosted a successful Broga session – yoga tailored specifically for men, providing a fun and accessible way to unwind and stay active.
With such a diverse and busy programme, Hartpury Active is committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community where students can maintain both physical health and mental well-being.
