Hartpury University’s well-regarded and high-recruiting BA (Hons) Sports Business Management degree has been endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), meaning graduates will also be recognised at the General Manager (Exercise and Fitness, Sport Development and Leisure Operations Specialisms) professional standard.

CIMSPA-endorsed degree programmes are certified as meeting professional standards set by the most highly regarded employers in the sector. CIMSPA aims to create a recognised and respected profession, and Hartpury University has received praise for its submission that shows this course to be a balanced and valuable programme.

Hartpury’s BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning and BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching also received CIMSPA endorsement in 2021. This followed on from Hartpury becoming a Higher Education Partner of CIMSPA – which recognised us as a leading university within the UK sports industry. At the postgraduate level, the MSc Sports Management and MSc Strength and Conditioning also achieved CIMSPA endorsement following its launch in 2021.

Richard Millard, Vice-Chair of the Sport and Physical Activity Professional Development Board said: “On behalf of the Sport and Physical Activity Sector Professional Development Board we congratulate Hartpury University in achieving CIMSPA endorsement BA (Hons) Sports Business Management. We’re delighted to see the employer-developed Professional Standards have been included, enabling the development of work-ready graduates.”

Michael Green, Programme Manager for BA (Hons) Sports Business Management said: “CIMSPA accreditation at the General Manager standard is evidence that this course actively meets the needs of a dynamic industry as well as providing a high level of competence in terms of business acumen and management skills.

“This is a great achievement for all involved, showcasing the evolution of this programme. Endorsements such as this will give future students the confidence that this course is well placed to produce industry-ready graduates with high employability.”

Hartpury’s relationship with business has recently been strengthened with the formation of the Hartpury Sports Business Hub as well as sponsorship arrangements with the likes of Renouf Wealth Management and Hamilton Barnes. These partnerships help to provide students with exposure to industry to make professional connections, work on real-life project briefs and acquire industry experience for the future.

The university’s graduate employability rate received a boost earlier this year with the news that 97% of 2020 Hartpury University graduates were in employment, further study or engaged in another purposeful activity (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2022).
