Hartpury on a high as A-level and BTEC students celebrate results success

A-Level-Students

Students from Hartpury College have achieved outstanding A-level and BTEC results for another consecutive year. Hartpury’s A-level results were higher than the national pass rate with more students achieving top grades than in 2019 - the last time that exams were sat by students due to the pandemic. BTEC Level 3 grades were also announced today with many students achieving high grades.

99.5% of Hartpury A-level students achieved their qualifications, compared to a national average pass rate of 98.4%. This year’s results continue the strong performance by A-level students over the last four years with 79% awarded grades A*to C (up from 74.2% in 2019 when exams were last held).

BTEC students also continued their legacy of impressing performances with 72.9% achieving a high-grade profile, reflecting strong course work and/or exam performance of Distinction level.

These results reflect students studying the college’s 14 A-level subjects including English, Mathematics and Science, as well as BTEC diplomas in agriculture, countryside management, land-based engineering, animal management and science, equine management, and sport.

Claire Whitworth, Vice-Principal of Hartpury College, said: “I would like to congratulate all the students and staff on their hard work, focus and resilience. This has been demonstrated time and time again over the last two years reflected in the grades achieved this year; an extraordinary accomplishment when considering the impact of the pandemic on the education and lives of young people. Thank you also to all the parents and carers who provided invaluable support as ever.

“I wish all our completing students the best of luck with their future employment or university ventures here at Hartpury University or elsewhere.

“We believe that Hartpury provides a unique environment in which to prepare students for their next steps, both academically and with wider life skills, the opportunity of which we really hope will provide a springboard for you in support of your future endeavors.”

98% of students at the Ofsted Outstanding college reported being satisfied with teaching, and 97% of students felt stimulated and challenged in their lessons (Hartpury College 2022). Significant investment has been made over the last ten years to ensure the 360-hectare campus provides the perfect learning environment. A new £9.8 million catering and learning facility will be unveiled in September for the new academic year. This state-of-the-art development will give students access to food and drink outlets, a comfortable seating area, group and independent study spaces, and flexible classrooms, all set across two floors.

Students benefit from a university on-site, providing progression onto a number of prestigious undergraduate degrees and a vibrant higher education culture. Earlier this year, Hartpury University was named as the No.1 University in England for Teaching* in the National Student Survey 2022 and was ranked first in the UK for Lecturers and Teaching Quality at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2022. Hartpury graduates also enjoy a 97% employability rate, according to Graduate Outcomes 2022.
