Hartpury University’s Postgraduate Studentship Scheme has opened for applications, offering an exciting opportunity for individuals to complement their postgraduate studies with an active paid role in Hartpury’s elite Sports Academies.
The unique studentships offer either fully funded or part-funded places on a variety of postgraduate sport degrees. The chosen degrees range from one to two years, enabling the candidate to study whilst working within the Performance Academy.
While each studentship role varies, responsibilities typically include assisting with coaching provision including training and performance analysis and working with senior management in areas such as programme marketing, administration and squad selection.
Contributions to Hartpury’s evolving postgraduate research and knowledge exchange community will also be supported and encouraged.
Entry specifications vary for each individual studentship although all applicants should preferably hold a 2.1 undergraduate degree in a sports science or related field.
Each studentship offers its own postgraduate degree options that include MSc Sports Coaching, MSc Strength & Conditioning, MSc Applied Performance Analysis in Sport, or MSc Sports Management. In addition, the studentships provide a valuable opportunity to network with professional and semi-professional clubs, players and coaches both nationally and internationally, making lifelong connections.
Dr Martin Longworth, Senior Lecturer and MSc Sports Coaching Programme Manager at Hartpury University, said: “At Hartpury we pride ourselves on our ability to allow our students to maximise their academic potential as well as pursuing their career aspirations. For most of our sport students this also includes participation within our Hartpury Sports Academy - as an athlete, coach, analyst or member of sport science support staff.
“These MSc Studentships give candidates the opportunity to combine postgraduate study on our specialist degrees whilst pursuing sporting excellence in a variety of roles within our high-performance culture. Successful candidates will actively contribute to success on and off the field of play within our academy teams and, upon graduation, be ready for deployment in the sporting industry.”
Anyone interested in learning more about these MSc Studentships should check out the individual studentship descriptions via the website and contact the respective Academy Managers in the first instance.
