Specialist sports programmes endorsed by professional body for UK

Hartpury University has become a Higher Education Partner of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and received endorsement for its specialist strength and conditioning programmes. 

Higher Education Partners of CIMSPA, the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, represent leading universities and higher education institutions working within the UK sports industry. 

Hartpury University’s new partnership with CIMSPA reflects its determination to provide students with the knowledge and experience to embark on successful careers within the sport and physical activity sector by aligning quality-assured courses with professional standards.

Both the MSc Strength and Conditioning and BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning degree programmes have been endorsed by CIMSPA.

Students enrolled on both programmes benefit from studying on courses that not only ensures they are working towards professional standards but also provides them with opportunities to gain industry experience in conjunction with Hartpury’s wide-ranging industry connections.

Degree programmes endorsed by CIMSPA are certified as meeting professional standards set by the most highly regarded employers in the sector.

“Our strength and conditioning programmes are aligned with modern industry standards and focused on providing our students with the skills and knowledge that employers in the sector are looking for, which is acknowledged by the endorsement from CIMSPA.

“The CIMSPA endorsement means that our students upon completion of their studies will have the ability to enter the industry as a Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach.

“This will enable students on the BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning and MSc Strength and Conditioning programmes to develop essential knowledge and skills that will put them at the forefront of graduates to enter what is a competitive industry.

“Students on both programmes will have access to our state-of-the-art sports facilities and opportunities for work placements with our sports academy teams and industry partners to further enhance their practice.

“In conjunction with the excellent teaching and learning environment that we provide for our students, we are giving them the best opportunity possible to be successful in their chosen career path.”

Hartpury’s extensive range of world-class sports facilities include its new £8.8 million Sports Academy featuring biomechanics and human performance laboratories and a rehabilitation suite, along with two strength and conditioning gyms.

Hartpury has specialist sports academies in men’s rugby, women’s rugby, men’s football, women’s football, rowing, golf, modern pentathlon, netball, equine and athlete performance.

As well as running Hartpury University RFC, Premier 15s club Gloucester-Hartpury Women's RFC and Hartpury University FC, Hartpury is the training centre for Gloucester Rugby and has strong relationships with England Rugby, Cheltenham Town Football Club, Bristol Rovers Football Club, GB Rowing, Exeter City Football Club, Pentathlon GB and Olympic champion equestrian coaches and athletes.
