Course Overview

If you’re looking for a career in the coaching or teaching industries – or hoping to progress onto a higher education sports degree, then this course provides an excellent foundation for your development towards your goals.

You will learn through a mix of theory based and practical sessions to give you a solid grounding in all aspects of sports coaching.

All students will complete a ten-week placement at a local primary school, where you will deliver physical education lessons to pupils of all ages.

2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include English Language and either Maths or a Science.

Your modules could include Anatomy and Physiology, Development and Provision of Sport, Sports Leadership, and Coaching for Performance.

You'll gain leadership and coaching experience through voluntary
opportunities. You'll have further opportunities to gain experience in leadership and coaching roles through academic and voluntary work, specifically through volunteer placements.

If you successfully complete this course, you can progress onto the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Physical Education and Coaching) programme (subject to a successful interview and tutor recommendation).
