Course Overview

The qualification is for those who have completed the Level 2 (7763-02 or 7863-02) and want to further their grooming knowledge. It allows candidates to gain the practical skills and knowledge to further their career in Professional Dog Grooming.

Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment

What makes this course special?

The tutor who will be instructing you is a Level 3 Qualified Dog Groomer with over 15 years’ experience in the canine industry.

You will be taught in our professional dog grooming salon that is fully equipped with a wide range of equipment to support the learners training.

How will I be assessed?

Synoptic assessments on a variety of dogs using a range of styling techniques to complete breed standard and pet grooms.

Will this course lead to a qualification?

On successful completion of this course, you will gain a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03)

Entry Requirements

Candidates must hold the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02 or 7863-02) to apply for this course.

All candidates will be required to complete an initial assessment.

Candidates are required to meet a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths for acceptance on the course.

It is strongly advised that candidates have a placement or job working as a groomer to be able to apply what they learn and advance their skills.

Anyone wishing to apply is also invited to attend a 2 hour hands on practical session where they will prepare a dog ready for styling.
You must be 19+ to attend this course.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma (7863-03) can be completed as a one day a week course over 39 weeks or we offer an intensive, 2 day a week course over 20 weeks.

There is also an element of self-study at home for this course.

We have flexible start dates across the academic year.

The cost for the course is £4,800. You may be entitled to support with your fees via an Advanced Learner Loan details of which can be provided upon application.

A full grooming kit bag with all the required equipment is to be brought to each session. Full details of this can be provided upon application.

All course fees must be paid at least 4 weeks prior to the first day of the course. If we have not received full payment of course fees your place on the course cannot be guaranteed.

If you need to cancel your course, Hartpury College will refund tuition fees at the following rates: 

  1. Up to 30 days prior to the course start date – full refund of tuition fees*
  2. Between 30 and 14 days prior to the course start date –50% refund of tuition fees*
  3. Less than 14 days’ notice – no refund of tuition fees

*an administrative fee of £50 will be deducted from the refund value.

If Hartpury postpones or cancels the course and is unable to provide an alternative date(s) any tuition fees will be refunded in full.
